Christie's will hold its Photographs online sale from September 25 through October 10 featuring items such as rare vintage prints by Edward Weston, Tina Modotti and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, post-war photographs by Diane Arbus, Peter Beard, Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn, and contemporary highlights by Nan Goldin, Richard Misrach, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Wolfgang Tillmans.
Highlights include:
- a group of Ansel Adams photographs including a 20th century mural print of Aspens, Northern New Mexico, 1958 (estimate: $300,000-$500,000)
- photographs from the collection of Gus and Arlette Kayafas from 19th century to contemporary works by Abelardo Morrell, including Gordon Parks’ American Gothic, Washington D.C. 1942 (estimated: $7,000-$9,000)
- portraits by Richard Avedon such as Francis Bacon, Painter, Paris, France, April 11, 1979, and Marilyn Monroe, Actress, New York, 1957 (estimate: $50,000-$70,000)
